Album is finished!!

So I transfered two Slovakians (well they transferred themselves) over to Dublin, Ireland, and recorded an entire album there. I love it. I am just listening back to it for the first time.

Maria sang. The entire thing is in slovakian. All her melodies sound...more eastern than western. why? thats what I want to know. It points to a question I have been asking myself for decades: the further east you go, the more minor seconds come into the music, the more the scales orient themselves away from major minor and go more into "harmonic" minor territories, flat second, flat flat second territories....

why?

so music..well, JK Rowlings' Dementors, Stephen Kings' Langoliers, Michael Ende's' Nothing....all these concepts spring to mind.

and problems with apostrophes

news of the highly disturbing Tuam in Galway, Ireland..."scandal" (to put it mildly)  came to me as we were doing some of the composing in Berlin. This was mainly in my head as I was composing, and recording. Its not stuff you want sitting in your head. There is a repetitive, manic sound to the piano and complimented with Maria's singing this music really makes me slightly more liberated...

UPDATE

I just got an email from Maria saying the songs are just demos. Fair enough...we are going to record more in the next few months. this is great, because I get to make the piano more musical and interesting...
